Chippers Dec 31, 2009
As we leave the year 2009 and enter a new decade, the Columbus Chippers is also entering in a new mode. Some of the same officers will guide you thru another year, but some changes have been made. Since the club has not had an annual show for a couple of years, the amount of money needed has decreased. As a result the club voted to lower (Yes, that’s right….lower) the annual dues from $15.00 to $5.00. If this messes up your 2010 budget, or you think the reduction just isn’t right, you can still pay the $15.00 if you desire. The club newsletter you have been getting for a very long time each month will no longer be created and sent out. Instead, all of the club news and announcements will be on the club BLOG on the internet. This blog will be updated every couple of days, so you may want to check it often. This blog will also contain a lot, in fact scads of other useful and helpful information for carvers or anyone interested in carving. Tom Hinds has created the blog and will update it with news and other items. He also says that the blog can be updated and added to by any member that has something to add, something to say or something that other members would be interested in. Contact him to see what you need to do to add things on the blog. His email address is tlewishindes@ aol.com You can access the above mentioned blog by entering http://columbuswoodchippers.blogspot.com (Note: You may not need to type in http:// on some computers) Once the first blog page is displayed, you should add this page to you favorites so you do not need to type it in each time you want to access the Chippers blog.
The club web site will be discontinued also, but will have instructions for accessing the blog web site. The club will continue to meet two evenings a month: the first and third Tuesdays. The 1st Tuesday will be for a carving session only. The 3rd Tuesday meeting will consist of a brief business meeting, show reports, “show ‘n’ tell”, any other items of interest and usually a demo or presentation of some sorts. You are welcome to carve at this meeting also.
While you will not get a newsletter, you will still be sent a brief reminder each month before the third Tuesday meeting.
I know that Tom has some really neat and good ideas for the club blog. I’m sure that you will enjoy his items, and the items other members put there. Your comments and suggestions for this blog are welcome, in fact, requested so that it will be kept interesting to everyone who accesses it.
Wishing everyone and their families a Very Happy and Safe 2010!!!! |
